WATSONVILLE—Watsonville Police on Monday said that three separate shootings that occurred Saturday night—which left two people dead—were not related. Two of them, however, are likely gang-related, WPD spokeswoman Michelle Pulido said.

The first shooting, which police believe is gang-related, occurred in the area of Marchant and E. Front streets around 5:30pm.

The second happened near the intersection of Main Street and Pennsylvania Drive around 9:30pm. Pulido said that shooting does not appear to be gang-related.

The man shot in the first incident died at the scene. The man shot in the second shooting was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Officers responded to a shooting on Blackbird Circle at about 11:40pm. They could not locate a victim at the scene, but around midnight, they were notified the 24-year-old victim had arrived at the hospital. He was flown to an out-of-county trauma center where he was still listed in critical condition Monday morning. This case appears to be gang-related, Pulido said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the WPD Investigations Division at 768-3350. Callers can leave a message on the anonymous tip line at 768-3544.
