More than 6,000 people in the Watsonville area are without power due to an outage likely caused by the wind and rain storm that ravaged Santa Cruz County on Saturday.
According to PG&E spokeswoman Angela Lombardi, heavy winds ranging from 40-70 miles per hour downed a power pole on private property in Watsonville.
Crews have already restored power to 3,422 customers in the Green Valley area, while 6,410 customers are still without power throughout the City.
Workers are preparing to repair the downed pole, and separately are inspecting a transformer.
Power is estimated to return Sunday night or Monday morning, she said.

the power came back online this afternoon. at first, PGE told us it would be 4 pm Monday. not a workable solution. the cold, the rain and the wind are not helping even the most insulated home here. we need to have our power working.
