Watsonville Police investigating midday shooting

WATSONVILLE—Watsonville Police are investigating a shooting that happened Friday afternoon on the 700 block of Rodriguez Street in Watsonville.

Numerous witnesses called 911 to report the shooting around 3:45pm. When police arrived moments later they found eight bullet shell casings on the sidewalk beside an apartment complex between Ford and Main streets, WPD Sgt. Henry Robles said.

No arrests have been reported.

Police closed off a swatch of Rodriguez Street with crime scene tape in order to preserve evidence.

One witness said he saw a teen male with a black handgun run from the scene on Ford Street.
