Three Watsonville men arrested in connection with Santa Cruz shooting

SANTA CRUZ—Santa Cruz Police on Sunday arrested three suspected gang members after one of them fired a shot into a residence on Blaine Street.

Gustavo Garcia, 19, and Jose Lopez, 28, were charged with attempted homicide. Both face weapons and gang charges. They were booked into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $375,000 bail, jail records showed.

Bryan Guerrero, 18, has been charged with being an accessory to a felony. He was not in custody Monday.

All three men, who are from Watsonville, also face gang enhancements.

Santa Cruz Police responded to a shooting in the 100 block of Blaine Street around 10:55pm.

Officers found the intended victim, who was not struck by the single gunshot. Nobody was injured.

Investigators interviewed witnesses and found the suspects getting into a vehicle a block away, police said.
