WATSONVILLE—Three men are facing felony vandalism charges for allegedly defacing more than a half-dozen businesses in downtown Watsonville with graffiti early Saturday.

Richard Betancourt, 40, Javier Alvarado, 29, and Juan Bautista, 23, all of Watsonville, were booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on charges of felony vandalism, public intoxication and possession of controlled substances.

The Watsonville Police Department in a press release said it is working with the eight vandalized businesses to determine the total costs of the damage.

WPD around 3am received a report of a graffiti in-progress near the intersection of Main Street and West Lake Avenue. Officers responding to the call found the suspects sitting in a parked car in the CVS Pharmacy parking lot, the area the suspects were last seen, according to WPD.
