With all three of their setters out with concussions, the Mariners scrapped their way to a 16-25, 30-28, 26-24, 25-11 win over Harbor High in a battle of last year’s Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League co-champions.

The St. Francis boys and girls cross country squads picked up wins in PCAL-Santa Lucia Center Meet No. 2.

Ceiba College Prep freshman Nellie Rubio-Pintor edged Oakwood sophomore Kate Marcotullio by a tenth of a second to finish first in Pacific Coast Athletic League Santa Lucia Center Meet 3 at Toro Park in Salinas on Oct. 18.

The Seahawks (4-3, 1-2) will play the Jaguars (1-6, 0-4) in San Jose at 1 p.m.

The No. 7-seeded Mustangs hung tough through a handful of uncharacteristic mistakes, but could not hold off a late rally in their 15-10 loss to the No. 2-seeded Monterey Toreadores in the Central Coast Section Division V playoffs on Friday at Monterey Peninsula College.

The Cabrillo College Seahawks swept the Monterey Peninsula College Lobos Tuesday, 25-12, 25-14, 25-20, to close out their conference schedule with an undefeated 12-0 record and claim their 12th consecutive Coast Conference title.
