SISKIYOU COUNTY—The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help identifying the suspect(s) in an April homicide of a former Santa Cruz County resident.

On April 8 a Siskiyou County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of a possible dead body near Yreka Walker Road in the Klamath River area, according to Ashley Keehn of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was identified as Spencer Hodgson, 31, most recently a resident in the Klamath River area. But Hodgson had long-term ties in the Santa Cruz area, Keehn said.

The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Hodgson died from a gunshot.

Siskiyou County investigators were able to recover the victim’s missing pickup, with the assistance of a California Highway Patrol helicopter.

A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s).

“There is a chance someone in the Santa Cruz County area knows something about this case,” Siskiyou County Sheriff Jon Lopey said.

Information about Spencer’s activities prior to the incident, even of a minor nature, or any other leads about the homicide could be pivotal in this case, Lopey said.

Those with information are asked to contact a Siskiyou County detective at (530) 842-8318 and refer to case number 1-19-0547.
