HENDERSON—The Santa Cruz Warriors recorded its first win of the regular season following a 125-100 victory over G League Ignite (3-2) at Dollar Loan Center on Thursday evening.
Santa Cruz guard Dusty Hannahs and forward Gui Santos each finished with 25 points for the Warriors, who set a franchise record by dishing out 40 assists as a team.
Guard Zeke Moore added 21 points and forward Lester Quinones notched 16 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds in a bounce-back win for the Sea Dubs.
Forward Leonard Miller finished with 17 points and eight rebounds for the Ignite, and guard London Johnson added 10 points and seven rebounds. Guard Marcus Graves closed out the night with 12 points and seven assists.
The Warriors led by as many as 10 points in the first quarter. However, a late push by the Ignite, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer by Graves, closed the Warriors lead to 33-30 going into the second frame.
Hannahs hit back-to-back 3-pointers late in the second quarter that extended Santa Cruz’s lead to 67-53 going into halftime.
The Sea Dubs recorded a franchise-high 26 assists on 28 shot attempts made in the first half.
The Warriors went on a 9-0 run to lead by as many as 19 points in the third quarter. But the Ignite brought the score to within 11 points, 89-78, with less than two minutes remaining in the frame.
Moore drained a 3-point buzzer beater that extended the Warriors lead to 14 points at 97-83 going into the final stanza.
Santa Cruz propelled their lead to 25 points in the fourth en route to a 125-100 win over the Ignite.
Santa Cruz (1-2) is back in action Friday night in a rematch against G League Ignite (3-2) at 7pm.
