WATSONVILLE—A total of 43 residents and 12 staff members of Watsonville Nursing Center and Post Acute Care have tested positive for Covid-19, Santa Cruz County Health Services Agency spokeswoman Corinne Hyland confirmed Thursday.
“We’re working closely with them to manage the outbreak,” she said.
The California National Guard has been deployed to help out at the center to make up for the missing employees, Hyland said.
County officials also confirmed that two people have died from Covid-19 complications, bringing the county’s death toll to 12.
The deaths include a white woman in her 90s and a Black man in his early 70s. Both had underlying health conditions, Hyland said.
A representative from Watsonville Post Acute did not return a call for comment by press time.
