Watsonville Police officers lead suspect Joel Navarro to a patrol car Tuesday after they caught him with a knife, chasing another man.

WPD spokeswoman Michelle Pulido said it appears Navarro and the victim got into a verbal altercation before Navarro brandished a knife and chased him along the 400 block of East Lake Avenue at 10:10am.

As he was being taken into custody, Navarro spat on one of the officers, Pulido said. He was booked into jail for brandishing a weapon, making criminal threats, and being under the influence of drugs in public.

No injuries were reported.
