WATSONVILLE — Maritza Solano died on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018 at a hospital in San Francisco. She was 33.

Ms. Solano was born and raised in Watsonville but lived in many places throughout her life. She worked at Ace Hardware in Watsonville on East Lake Avenue for the past couple of years.

Ms. Solano was a free spirit. She loved music and dancing and her laughter could fill a room. She loved to be the center of attention but also her easy going personality and “never stay down” attitude was infectious.

Ms. Solano is survived by her children, Eduardo and Marilyn Barajas of Watsonville; siblings, Jose Solano Jr. (Anita) of Watsonville and Araceli Lopez; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

The visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Sunday, Jan. 14 from 3-9 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. In memory of Ms. Solano, donations are appreciated to offset the funeral expenses and payable to Mehl’s Colonial Chapel.
