WATSONVILLE—Watsonville Police on Monday arrested a man suspected of a shooting Sunday night that left a woman and a teen girl in critical condition.

Raul Morales

Detectives tracked down Raul Morales, 35, to Los Banos where he lived. The Merced County Sheriff’s Office and Los Banos Police Department arrested him less than eight hours after the shooting, WPD spokeswoman Michelle Pulido said.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute between Morales and his girlfriend’s family on Cereze Street, Pulido said.

The victims are being treated for their injuries at an out-of-county trauma center.

Morales was charged with attempted murder, shooting into an inhabited dwelling and assault. He was also prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $375,000 bail.
