Alyssa Wall for County Office of Education

After eight years on the Santa Cruz County Office of Education board, I am stepping down. I am very pleased that Alyssa Wall filed to run. She grew up in San Jose, fell in love with Santa Cruz from her summer vacations at the beach and moved to La Selva Beach.

Alyssa majored in education, received a master’s and is currently in a doctoral program in educational policy. With her wealth of knowledge, she is prepared to represent us and able to contribute immediately. Alyssa is the only candidate who has met with the County Superintendent and attended both monthly COE board meetings since filing to run.

Alyssa will focus on the responsibilities of a board member to oversee finances, lead in alternative education programs, and cooperate with and provide assistance to the 10 school districts and 40,000 students they serve. She has my full endorsement.

Hernandez is a proven leader

I fully endorse and support Felipe Hernandez for Cabrillo College Trustee. He was born and raised in Watsonville and attended H.A. Hyde, E.A. Hall and Watsonville High and has our City’s best interest at heart.

I respect how he helped the Crossroads Shopping Center businesses that were being evicted, in a time of crisis. He worked tirelessly to bring kids the new skate park and the upcoming pump track at Ramsay Park. And he fought the state, making nearly a dozen trips to Sacramento, to successfully return $4.6 million in RDA funds back to the City of Watsonville. Most recently, the veterans at the local VFW were in a budget crisis and he helped me raise funds for the veterans.

I will vote for Felipe Hernandez, because he is proven leadership we can trust and he has proven to work hard for our community. He has served our country, served our city and will now serve our students. I encourage you to vote for Felipe Hernandez for Cabrillo College Trustee.

Greg Caput, Santa Cruz County Supervisor
