Inspiring actions around the world
It is so inspiring the way millions of great Americans and millions of good people in grand nations around the world have complied with each nation’s coronavirus guidelines for protecting themselves and, in turn, protecting the health of many others by containing the spread of the virus. Indeed, our big cities are looking like metropolitan ghost towns as millions of people are presently sheltering-in-place. Meanwhile, many teenagers and many of those in their 20s have been slower to grasp the seriousness of this hellish pandemic. I truly hope the young people in our area will strive to set a good example for their peers by following the prescribed guidelines. The coronavirus is like a loaded revolver. It can quickly turn deadly. And so, please, I urge everyone to do your part to flatten the curve. We are all in this together.

A good race for second district leadership
Now that the March 3 election results have been certified, I would like to publicly congratulate incumbent Supervisor Friend on his successful campaign for another four years as Supervisor of District 2. I also want to heartily thank the 6,116 voters who honored me with their votes. Your votes of confidence are truly humbling.
Let us all hope that Supervisor Friend will improve his responsiveness to the one in three voters who indicated they want better representation and responsiveness to their requests. Let us remind Supervisor Friend that it would better serve constituents to offer constituent meetings at times of the day when working people can meet, to hold regular and frequent town hall meetings for better public involvement in local issues, and to create a newsletter that is not only on Facebook. Let us hope that rural property owners will see County Fire protection funded by a 10 percent slice of the $18 million state Prop. 172 Public Safety tax money the County receives annually, but currently ZERO dollars fund fire protection.
Supervisor Friend has the ability and responsibility to do all of this for District 2 constituents. Let us all hold him accountable for improved leadership with respect and transparency.

Respect our President
For the past two weeks you have printed large articles on the opinion page that continue to attack our President. I realize that there are many people who disagree with President Trump, however, there are also many of us that agree with his policies and direction. He was elected president and deserves the respect of a sitting president. To consistently verbally attack him is not productive and serves no purpose, other than to make the writer feel good. Quite frankly, there have been many presidents that I have not cared for, Obama and Clinton being two. Both lost their law licenses due to wrong doings, both have not been perfect, but then, who among us is? I believe it is time for all of us to become more curious and kind and to stop degrading our president. Enough is enough. And yes, I will vote for Trump, because I believe, despite his faults that I freely admit, he is the best candidate.
