Francisca Reyes died on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was 89.
She was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on April 2, 1929 to Bernabe and Martina Diaz. She lived in Watsonville for 61 years. She was a strawberry share cropper with her husband Lazaro Reyes. She was also a loving mother who adored her children and being with her family. She loved being outdoors, watering her flowers and gardening. She also loved singing and music.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Epifania Leon. She is survived by her husband, Lazaro Reyes; two daughters, Maria Chavarria (Max Chavarria); Maria Estela Cornejo (John Cornejo); three sons, Albert Reyes (Patty), Lazaro Jr. Reyes (Martha), and Jose Antonio Reyes (Teri); 18 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 5-9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. Mass will be Thursday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. at Valley Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
