David Laurence Leon, resident of Watsonville for 55 years, died on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019. He was 57.

A native of Watsonville but born in Santa Cruz, he always said he was a surfer. He was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to family. He was employed by Martinelli’s & Sons for 30 years. He was greatly loved by his children, Ashley Megan Leon and David William Leon Jr. He loved riding his bike and would often be seen around town. He loved spending time with his family and grilling his specialty tri-tip. He enjoyed listening to Oldies and Old School jams, often breaking into dance when a favorite song came on. He loved going to Giants games with his Dad and was also a fan of the 49ers.

In addition to his beloved children, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Darlene Marianne Leon; brothers, Louie (Val) Leon, William (Julie) Leon Jr., Mike (Debra) Leon, and Phillipe Leon; sisters, Alberta Ceballos (Jesse) and Debra Keller (Bill); and his mother, Mickie Leon. He was preceded in death by his father, William “Willy” Leon; and sister, Katherine Leon.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 14 from 5-9 p.m., with rosary service at 7 p.m. at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel.
