WATSONVILLE—The City of Watsonville recently released a survey that aims to gather the community’s opinions, questions, concerns and dreams about the city’s downtown corridor.
The survey will help guide the City while it develops the Downtown Watsonville Specific Plan, which will serve as a blueprint for the future of downtown by setting guidelines for housing, parking, economic development and the look and layout of streets and public spaces, among other things.
The survey is open until the end of the month.
The plan, according to the City website, will include the development of multi-story, mixed-use buildings through both new construction and reuse of historic buildings with market-rate residential housing and commercial retail on the first floor.
Additionally, it will encourage compact development near transit to decrease vehicle dependency, reduce both local and regional traffic congestion, and provide additional guidance and plans to increase access to and from the historic corridor, according to the City.
