Senior guard Chloe Deleissegues had 30 points, six assists and nine rebounds to lead the St. Francis High girls’ basketball team past No. 5 Stevenson, 71-66, and into the semifinal round of the Central Coast Section Division V tournament on Saturday at Alma Heights Christian in Pacifica.
St. Francis (13-13), seeded No. 4 in the division, will return to Pacifica on Wednesday to play top-seeded Woodside Priory in a rematch of last year’s D-V championship.
The game is set for a 7:30 tip-off.
Senior guard Janiya Sevilla chipped in 16 points and six rebounds for St. Francis, which had seven of its eight players score on the night.
Junior guard Janessa Yniguez added eight points, three steals and five rebounds, while senior forward Alyssa Vargas chimed in with seven points, eight rebounds, three steals and three blocks.
• Aptos 66, Live Oak 54 — Sophomores Natalia Ackerman (25 points) and Gabby Giuffre (22) combined to score 47 points, as No. 2 Aptos High had to rally in the second half to beat No. 10 Live Oak High on Saturday in the quarterfinal round of the CCS D-III playoffs in Aptos.
Aptos (24-3) will host No. 6 Saratoga High, which stunned No. 3 Seaside High, 43-41, on Wednesday night in the semifinal back at Aptos.
The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start
The Mariners were down 38-36 at the half, but outscored the Acorns 12-4 in the third quarter and never looked back.
Ackerman added six rebounds, five blocks and five steals to her impressive line.
• ND-Belmont 51, MVC 23 — The No. 7-seeded Monte Vista Christian Mustangs were eliminated in the quarterfinal round of the CCS D-IV playoffs by No. 2 Notre Dame-Belmont on Saturday night in Scotts Valley High.
M.V.C. finishes its season at 12-14 overall.
The Mustangs will lose two seniors: Mariah Gonzalez and Lauren De Los Santos.
BOYS
• St. Francis 54, Nueva 53 (OT) — The defending CCS D-V champions survived a scare in the quarterfinal round on Saturday afternoon at Pinewood School in Los Altos.
St. Francis (20-5), the top seed in the division, advances to Wednesday’s semifinal round against host No. 4 Pinewood.
The game is set for a 5:30 p.m. start.
Senior forwards Chase Watkins (20 points) and Jason Gallo (16) combined to score 36 points, while junior guard Andrew Seymour added 15 points.
Gallo had a career-high 20 rebounds, and the Sharks needed all of them.
They shot just 21 percent from the field, and had to hold off Nueva’s Kyle McGraw, who scored 15 of his game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter to force OT.
