The Watsonville High softball team had its game against North Salinas postponed due to a potential ammonia cloud hanging in the area from a four-alarm fire at Taylor Farms in Salinas.
The Wildcatz (9-6, 1-4) and Vikings (5-6, 0-4) will have a make-up game in Pacific Coast Athletic League Gabilan Division play on a date and time yet to be determined.
Watsonville will host a tournament on Saturday starting at 9am.
St. Francis 11, Rancho San Juan 0: Senior Alicia Mendez and sophomore Aaliysah Gomez combined on a no-hitter for the Sharks in their non-league win over the Trailblazers.
Mendez finished with six strikeouts in three innings and Gomez threw the final two innings for St. Francis, which recorded its third no-hitter and fifth shutout of the season.
Mariah Montalvo, committed to play at Santa Clara University next season, batted 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. She currently has nine home runs this season.
St. Francis (10-2, 3-2) will play Trinity Christian in non-league action Thursday at 4:30pm.
High school baseball
Aptos 11, Los Gatos 1 (6 innings): Senior pitcher Gabe Gaeckle recorded five strikeouts for the Mariners in their non-league win over the Wildcats on April 9.
Gaeckle gave up one run on two hits and three walks in four innings, and fellow teammate Quinn Hocom gave up one hit and recorded a strikeout in two innings.
Reed Moring batted 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and three runs scored for Aptos. Gaeckle was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, Edward Peters was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, and Jack Spinelli had a three-run double.
The Mariners recently dropped their first game in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play after a 3-1 loss to Santa Cruz High on Tuesday.
Aptos (10-6, 7-1) has a rematch against the Cardinals (11-6, 7-1) on Thursday at 4:30pm.
St. Francis 11, San Lorenzo Valley 0: The Sharks have won two-straight after a victory over the Cougars in non-league action Wednesday.
St. Francis (12-2, 6-2) will play against Pioneer Valley High of Santa Maria at the San Luis Obispo Tournament on Monday at 4pm.
St. Francis 24, King City 4: The Sharks crushed the Mustangs in PCAL Mission Division action Tuesday afternoon.
Boys golf
Aptos 214, Santa Cruz 250: Senior Vito Riccabona and sophomore Andrew Cox both shot a 39 (four over par) to earn medalist honors for Mariners in their win over the Cardinals at Seascape Golf Club in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play on Tuesday.
Fellow senior teammates Seamus Carey and Joey Mackle each shot a 45, and Dominic DeLuca shot a 46 for Aptos, which remains unbeaten with a 5-0 record in league play.
Isiah Ruckman shot a team-best 44 for Santa Cruz, followed by Nic A-Wolf (49), Travis Deane (50), Cliff Chestnut (52) and West Carlson (55).
Boys volleyball
Watsonville 3, Alvarez 2: The Wildcatz remain unbeaten with a 5-0 record in PCAL Mission Division play after a five-set win over the Eagles on Tuesday.
Watsonville (6-3, 5-0) will play at Pajaro Valley on April 21 at 6pm.

Rockies 25, Athletics 14: Chris Sigala had two base hits including a triple, three RBIs and four runs scored for the Rockies (2-5) in their win April 9. Isaiah Lopez had two base hits and two RBIs, Eduardo Castaneda had a double, a triple and two RBIs, Sawyer LaGrange had a double and both Aaron Martinez and Andy Jarquin each scored three runs. Eli Salgado had two base hits for the Athletics (0-8). Israel Hernandez, Jakari Freeman, Sebastian Padilla each had a double.
Nationals 13, Giants 3: Kenny Allen had an inside-the-park home run for the Nationals (9-0) in their win April 9. Tyler Brooks had a home run with two RBIs and three runs scored, Robert Lopez had two doubles and a triple with three runs scored. With the loss, the Giants dropped to 3-5 this season.
Nationals 18, Athletics 0: Three pitchers (Julio Valenzuela, Ryker Fitz and Owen Osburn) combined one a four inning no-hitter for the Nationals on April 8. Tyler Brooks had a home run and scored three runs. Kenny Allen, Jared Verdia and Joshua Brooks each scored three runs.
Twins 12, Giants 7: Shane McCoy had two triples and three RBIs for the Twins (6-2) in their win April 6. Jacob Nielsen had a pair of base hits, and J.J. Martinez had two base hits and scored four runs. Angelo Urabe-Chavez had a double and a triple for the Giants, and fellow teammate Bryce Ruiz finished with a triple. Roman Magana, Nico Walter and Mauricio Estrada each had a pair of base hits.
Nationals 8, Twins 2: Jared Verdia and Tyler Brooks gave up a combined two runs, three hits, four walks and 13 strikeouts for the Nationals in their win April 4. Brooks had two base hits including a double, and fellow teammates Izzy Landa and Ryker Fitz each had two base hits. J.J. Martinez had two base hits including a triple for the Twins.
Professional soccer
Monterey Bay F.C. signs Carlos Herrera: Monterey Bay F.C. announced Thursday that the club signed goalkeeper Carlos Herrera to a 25-day contract.
The roster move comes days after Rafael Díaz sustained an injury in the final minutes of their match against Oakland Roots SC on March 26.
Herrera, who is a San Leandro native, joins Monterey Bay F.C. after an extended run with the club as a trialist this preseason.
Prior to that, Herrera played for National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) club Laredo Heat SC. He led them to a first -place finish in the Lone Star Conference and they earned a trip to the Regional Semifinals in 2018.
