Watsonville High juniors Xitlali Montesino and Kaylani Trout-Lacy gained some notoriety this season in the Pacific Coast Athletic League’s Mission Division.
The coaches within the league recognized their outstanding efforts on the basketball court by honoring the Wildcatz standouts as members of this year’s all-league first-team.
Both players missed significant time due to Covid-19 protocols and they still managed to shine throughout the season.
Montesino, who averaged 8.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game this season, was also named the division’s Defensive Players of the Year. She averaged 5.7 steals per contest in 14 games played according to the MaxPreps website.
Trout-Lacy averaged 15.2 points and nine rebounds per game this season in nine games played.
Watsonville’s Crystal Salazar-Nieto was named to the Richard Chamberlin Sportsmanship Team.
Stevenson senior guard Rhea Cosand was named the Mission Division’s Most Valuable Player after a stellar year on the court. She averaged 16.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.9 steals per game in 18 games played this season.
