Nerdville Comic Con in Watsonville
Friends of Watsonville Parks and Community Services will hold the annual Nerdville Comic Con event at the Watsonville High School gym at 250 East Beach Street Watsonville on Sunday, June 23 from 10am–5pm. The event features anime, art, cosplay, panel discussions, and collectables. Includes a cosplay competition, popular voice actors speaking and signing autographs, vendors, food and drink and a One Piece card game. The Watsonville Band will play comic and movie soundtracks and popular tunes.
Free to all Pajaro Valley Unified School District students with 2023-24 ID card. $20 for adults and $10 for kids 6-17. Under 5 is free. Tickets will be available at the door.

Aromas Hills Artisans art workshop
Aromas Hills Artisans will hold the biannual “Summer Fun Workshop” on Saturday, July 27 from 2 to 4:30pm at the Aromas Grill at 304 Carpenteria Rd. in Aromas.
Local mural artist Joyce Oroz will demonstrate two new painting techniques. Her “paint parties” at the Aromas Grill are fun as well as instructive. No previous painting experience is required and all materials will be supplied. “Poppies” are the subject and the first drink is free. $55 per person. Call 291.6719 to reserve a spot.
Santa Cruz County ‘Summer Love’ Pet Adoption Special
Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is holding its ‘Summer Love’ pet adoption through June 30.
All pets can be adopted for half the usual adoption fee.
• Puppies under 6 months old – $105 (usually $210)
• Adult dogs – $75 (usually $150)
• Kittens under 6 months old – $60 (usually $125)
• Adult cats – $55 (usually $110)
• Rabbits – $35 (usually $75)
Reduced adoption fees include our comprehensive preparation care package, including spay or
neuter surgery, up-to-date vaccinations, flea and tick preventative services, a microchip for
permanent identification and a license for dogs that will be living in Santa Cruz County.
Interested adopters can visit the shelter at 1001 Rodriguez Street in Santa Cruz between 11am and 6pm daily, or browse adoptable pets online at scanimalshelter.gov.
