Blas Christopher Marquez, born April 8, 1966, sadly passed away on January 18, 2019 surrounded by family and loved ones, after a brief bout with cancer.  He was 52.

He was a man of few words, but a very strong man, very protective, warrior-like.  His hobbies included drawing & painting, woodwork, making jewelry & dream catchers, listening to Oldies & Old School Jams and dancing (which by the way, he was pretty good at).  He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, football, and he was a die-hard Raider’s fan.

From the age of 14 years old he was always doing tattoos and I’m sure many of us have a tattoo from him. He was a hard worker and everyone at work adored him for that. He worked at Sambrailo’s for 20 years and most recently he worked for H.A. Ryder & Sons for the past 10 years.

He leaves behind his mothers Elsie Rodriguez and Yolanda Villa; his children Contessa, Blas Jr., Brianna, Mariah, and Christopher; his siblings John John, Tommy, Isaac, Paul Jr., Denise, Rosa and Sarita; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his Dad, Johnny Velasco.  Blas will be greatly missed by all, for somehow he touched all our lives.

Viewing will be on January 29, 2019 from 5-9pm at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel, with a Celebration of Life at 7pm.  Burial will be on January 30, 2019 at Valley Cemetery at 1:00pm, with a gathering following immediately after at the VHW Hall on Freedom Blvd.
