I saw on TV news this morning that there is another scam circulating on the Internet. This time it’s regarding a scare of the coronavirus out of China, an important issue that is garnering headlines around the world. However, some folks are sending a call for funds to help fight the virus by using a false email address that is similar to CDC.gov, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with this email, CDCgov.org. About eight people were still without power Wednesday morning following Sunday’s incredible windstorm that blew through the Central Coast, tearing out power lines, toppling trees and blocking scores of roads. Tuesday evening I spotted a massive staging area by PG & E on 7th Avenue in the upper Small Craft Harbor in Live Oak where about 100 large trucks were stationed.
I hear they’re in town from all over the state from various companies to help deal with the onslaught of calls for repairs. Twenty-nine thousand people were without power at the height of the windstorm.
