WATSONVILLE — Watsonville native and Santana lead singer Andy Vargas will bring his band to the Henry J. Mello Center Saturday for a holiday benefit concert.

The show, entitled “el Sueño,” or “the Dream,” will be headlined by Vargas and his band, Souleros. Vargas’ father’s band, Mariachi California de Javier Vargas, will also be a featured artist.

Other guests performers include DJ Art Valdez, Esperanza Del Valle, Academia de Música Illusión, Estrellas de Esperanza and Ballet Folklórico de la secundaria de Watsonville.

All proceeds of the show will benefit Vargas’ nonprofit organization, The Andy Vargas Foundation and Watsonville High School College Scholarship programs.

The Andy Vargas Foundation, which aims to increase participation and interest in music for youth and young adults, offers a number of different mentoring programs with support from help from local and national celebrities, sports figures and musical artists. 

“El Sueño” includes a special reception for sponsors beginning at 5:30 p.m., as well as a silent auction, performances by Watsonville High students, a raffle and a post-performance meet-and-greet with the band.

The Henry J. Mello Center is located at 250 E. Beach St., Watsonville. Door to the show will open at 6 p.m. for a 6:45 p.m. concert time.
