CORRALITOS — Three firefighters were injured while battling a small fire that broke out near Buzzard Lagoon Road in Corralitos early Sunday morning.

According to Cal Fire, the Buzzard Fire ignited just after 2:30 a.m. in the area of Eureka Canyon in Corralitos near Buzzard Lagoon Road in The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park. The fire has been stopped at less than two acres and is 50 percent contained.

The Cal Fire firefighters were injured while escaping from a falling tree and were treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital. They are in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Cal Fire, and are expected to be released shortly.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Ground crews and one helicopter will remain on scene throughout the day to reinforce containment lines and mop up.
