WATSONVILLE — If all goes according to schedule, the 7.3-acre property on West Beach Street that once housed the Indalex aluminum plant will feature a new hotel, a gas station and a retail store within one year.

Jagjit “Juggy” Tut, whose company Elite Development is doing the work, said that he expects workers to pour the concrete foundation in the first week of September. Framing work will begin soon after that.

The property will include a Hampton Inn Suites hotel, an Arco AM/PM gas station and a Starbucks coffee shop.

It will also have two other unnamed stores, Tut said.

The company purchased the 7.3-acre parcel on West Beach Street in 2015.

“We’re excited,” he said. “It’s been a long process.”

The company’s 48-unit townhouse project at 35 Harkins Slough Road is also under construction. The Watsonville City Council approved that project in June 2015.
