Shea Garcia, Aptos, Jr.: One of the breakout stars of last spring, the Aptos High shortstop will return for her second varsity softball season as a well-known commodity.

Garcia helped the Mariners win their first Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League championship since 2011 by leading the team in nearly every offensive statistical category. She hit .458 with 33 RBIs, four doubles, five home runs and 23 scored runs en route to a spot on the All-SCCAL First Team.

Already verbally committed to Portland State, Garcia figures to be the Mariners’ leader with the graduation of six seniors from last year’s team.

Editor’s Note: 20 athletes in 20 days is a daily series that will highlight one local high school athlete per day leading up to the start of 2018-19 school year.
