Ruth Minnie Kraus was born on September 9, 1925 on Long Island, New York to George and Grace Beckwith. Ruth married Joseph Kraus in 1947. During WWII, she sewed parachutes in the war effort. She was an electronics assembler in San Mateo for EIMAC, a division of VARIAN for 19 years and retired in 1976.
Ruth made Watsonville her home for close to 40 years. Ruth and her husband moved to Watsonville in 1977, built a 200+ apple tree ranch on Casserly Road, and sold apples to Martinelli’s for juice. She moved to Pajaro Village in 2005 with her golden retrievers.
Ruth enjoyed cross-stitch and crocheting, and was an excellent cook and baker.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her son, Thomas (Michelle) Kraus Sr.; grandson, Thomas Kraus Jr.; great-grandson, Jarred Kraus; nephew, Joseph (Linda) Quinn; and niece, Patricia (Michael Cordova) Quinn.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 2003. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Lucy Quinn and Grace Rodriguez; and her brothers, George and Tom Beckwith.
Loved by many, Ruth will be remembered forever.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, March 31st at 12 noon at the Pajaro Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, 127 Hecker Pass Road, Watsonville.
In lieu of flowers, Ruth wished contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
