Sarah Ann Crane Nava (MamMaw) died on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz. She was 70.

She was born in Jackson, Tenn. on March 30 1947. She was raised in Jonesboro, Ark. and graduated Arkansas High School in 1966.

She settled in Watsonville and raised four children. She was retired from the Santa Cruz County Office of Education. She was well known for her Watsonville twirl club, her involvement in her First Baptist Church, and a Queen of the red hat society, along with many volunteering organizations. She also continued her education, obtaining her master’s degree.

She is survived by her children, Adriana Nava (Mark), Veronica Contreras (Tom), Freddy Nava (Autumn), Christina Martinez (Mike); 16 grandchildren; and sisters, Cheryl Crane Kriner and Janet Crane Weston (Lonnie).
