Walter Bratcher, 96, a Watsonville resident since 1930, passed away after a short illness on Jan. 27, 2018 in Auburn, CA.
After moving from Arkansas when he was a child, he attended school in Watsonville before marrying Inez Wilson and having three children. He served in the Army during WWII. He worked as a truck driver for Paul Milladin and then as a field buyer for Watsonville Canning until his retirement at age 70. He later married Josephine Jager and was with her until she died in 2006. Walter lived in his own home until five years ago when he moved to Auburn to be close to his family. He lived 96 good years, and will be missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his son, Gary (Joanne) Bratcher; daughter, Kathleen (George) Tapiz; grandchildren, Shawn (Marcela) Bratcher, Shelby ( Rob) Barnhart, Jeff (Venita) Koenig, Michael (Christine) Koenig, Tracey (Richard) Black, Nicole (Jon) Karch; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his spouse Josephine Jager, his former spouse, Inez Tower and their daughter, Bonnie Duffy.
