Watsonville Police search for two men who jumped out of this Honda sedan late Friday on the Pajaro River levee. The incident began at 9:15pm on Locust Street when police tried to pull over the car with two men aboard. The driver failed to yield to lights and sirens, triggering a brief high speed chase that laced around numerous city streets. With several Watsonville police vehicles joining the pursuit, the followed the Honda on Menker Street, Riverside Drive and down a length of West Beach Street before swerving onto Walker Street to where it ends at the railroad trestle. That’s when both men leapt from the car and charged off into the wooded levee area under the cover of darkness. By 10pm no arrests had been made. It was not clear what initiated the initial car stop.
