A California Highway Patrol officer collects information on a trailer that flipped over on East Lake Avenue at Holohan Road Monday.
The CHP said the trailer, heavily loaded with trash, broke loose from the truck towing it around 12:45pm while traveling east on East Lake Avenue. The trailer left gouges and black skid marks along the pavement and sidewalk of the newly built bridge that spans Corralitos Creek before turning onto its side.
The CHP added that the driver then fled the scene and left the overturned trailer along the heavily traveled intersection, causing a lengthy traffic back up. A tow operator from Chaz Towing was able to right the trailer and haul it off the road in swift order.
The CHP is still investigating the incident in hopes of tracking down the driver. No injuries were reported.
