North Monterey County Fire Division Chief Jess Cortez said no-one was injured in the blaze at the corner of Gonda Street. One neighbor said two families, with children, were displaced. Cortez said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fernando Garcia, a neighbor, said he saw “big flames” coming out a window and then the entire family escaping through a small window.
