A man wanted on suspicion of murder in the San Francisco Bay Area was stopped and arrested Friday evening in Santa Cruz.
According to Israel Murillo of the California Highway Patrol, officers on patrol spotted the suspect’s vehicle—a Hyundai Elantra—traveling in the area of Seabright Avenue at Murray Street.
With the assistance of Santa Cruz Police and the Harbor Patrol, officers made a high-risk car stop at 11:40pm and arrested Jeffrey Kendall, 36, who was wanted for murder in Pinole, which is north of Berkeley.
“The driver—a murder suspect—was quickly apprehended by the CHP officers,” Murillo said.
According to Pinole Police, Kendall broke into a home on the 500 of Summit Drive around 8:45am on Saturday . That’s when Pinole Police received a report of someone who had broken into a home and was attacking a woman inside. When officers from the Pinole and Hercules police departments arrived at the home, they found the woman dead with a gunshot wound.
After the arrest later that same night, Neil Gang of the Pinole Police Department said detectives drove to Santa Cruz and took custody of Kendall and booked him into the Martinez Detention Facility on homicide and domestic violence charges where he is being held on $1.1 million bail.
Thank you, CHP!
