The Monterey Bay Dahlia Society showcased more than 1,000 blooms at its annual Dahlia Show at the Capitola Mall on Saturday and Sunday.
With categories of individual blooms to bouquets, amateurs, first time exhibitors and open to all, the free event unfolded in the center of the mall with the mall’s circular fountain as its centerpiece.
“The Dahlia Show started here over 20 years ago and now we’re back,” said MBDS member Kevin Larkin. “It’s a great place to show these flowers and we’re seeing a lot of folks taking time to enjoy the blooms.”
Longtime member Mary Bannister said the MBDS is also gearing up for its exhibit at the Santa Cruz County Fair, which kicks off Sept. 13.
