Help plant flowers at the fairgrounds
The Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds Foundation is seeking volunteers to plant flowers for the upcoming Santa Cruz County Fair.
A workday is scheduled for July 27 at 4pm.
Planting will begin at 4pm and will wrap up by 6:30pm at which time a hot dog barbecue dinner will be served.
This is the first time in several years that the flower planting will be a public event.

Free mental health workshop scheduled
Watsonville First United Church, 229 Stanford St., is holding a free mental health workshop in English on July 29 from noon to 2pm.
The workshop, facilitated by Dr. Hanna Song, will cover topics such as anxiety, depression, stress, anger and more.

Overnight beach hike benefits Save Our Shores
The fourth annual Stroll the Bay, an overnight fundraising event for Save Our Shores presented by Santa Cruz County Bank, returns July 29-30.
The 36-mile hike begins at Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey at midnight on July 29 and ends at Seacliff State Beach in Aptos. The projected 14-hour hike takes place almost entirely on the beach.
All proceeds from this year’s Stroll the Bay will benefit Save Our Shores. The hike is open to public participation with a cap of 50 people.

Entry Guide now available for County Fair
From LEGOs to livestock, poultry to poetry, entries are now being accepted for the Santa Cruz County Fair.
The complete Exhibitor’s Entry Guide is now available. It can be accessed online at santacruzcountyfair.com, or at local libraries, feed stores and the Fair office located on East Lake Avenue (Highway 152) in Watsonville.
Most online entry deadlines are Thursday, Aug 24, including livestock. The Poultry deadline is Aug. 5.
