Members from the Santa Cruz Warriors and Kaiser Permanente doctors joined forces with staff at Second Harvest Food Bank Tuesday morning in Watsonville to bag food for their third such event to help area families in need. The food is supported by Kaiser Permanente and the Warrior’s Swishes for Dishes program, where every basket on the court during season games raises cash for food distributed to food insecure families in Santa Cruz County, said Karl Sonkin, media relations/public relations representative for Kaiser Permanente. This last season Swishes for Dishes donated 58,430 meals for food insecure families in this county and more than 162,000 meals since they began the program.
