CAPITOLA—Two people were arrested Monday night on 41st Avenue on suspicion of running a rampant theft ring.

Ashley Keehn, spokeswoman for the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, said deputies spotted a vehicle at CVS on 41st Avenue that was suspected to be involved in an earlier theft in Scotts Valley. Deputies contacted the driver and passenger, identified as 20-year-old Elani Flenaugh of Berkeley and 19-year-old Kiera Lee of Oakland.

While searching their car, deputies reportedly discovered thousands of dollars’ worth of stolen goods from various retail stores around Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties.

Both suspects were booked into county jail for charges including conspiracy, receiving stolen property, grand theft and burglary.
