CAPITOLA—A Santa Cruz man was arrested Saturday for felony DUI after allegedly striking a police officer riding a motorcycle, California Highway Patrol Officer Sam Courtney said.

Kolton Matosich, 29, was charged with felony DUI. He was not in custody Monday morning, jail records showed.

According to Courtney, Matosich was driving a 2009 Hyundai Genesis around 7:50pm while under the influence of alcohol when he made a left turn in front of an on-duty Capitola police officer in the area of Capitola Road at 49th Avenue, and struck the motorcycle.

Matosich fled the scene in his car, and a passing motorist followed him and facilitated his return to the scene, Courtney said.

The officer suffered minor injuries.
