Conchita Gonzalez, owner of Conchita’s Ice Cream in Plaza Vigil, said she was glad to reopen recently. Gonzalez, who has been open at the same spot for 22 years, said she cried for a week straight when she first had to close.
“Now that I am back, I am welcoming so many of my regular customers to my store,” she said. “I stand out on Beach Street and wave to people passing by to let them know I am still here. I love my job and my customers.”

In Santa Cruz County there are 205 cases, two deaths and 137 people have recovered, according to the County Health Dept.

I walked past the testing site at Ramsay Park in Watsonville today and was surprised to see four people in line to be tested. One woman exiting the Family Center said it was quick and easy to get tested and that she was in and out in about five minutes.

Investigators warn about fraudulent pay schemes online, fake masks and sanitizing sprays, and other health related scams. They warn to be careful who you give your credit card number to, for starters.

Health officials are also warning of a second peak in the coronavirus pandemic largely based on global hotspots, large gatherings over the Memorial Day holiday, loosening of safety orders and lax precautions some are taking.

Coronavirus cases in China fell to zero Saturday, the first time since the start of the outbreak. Meanwhile cases surged in India and Latin America. In New York the daily death tally peaked on April 8 at 799 people.
