APTOS—New Leaf Community Market in Aptos reopened Tuesday morning after a store-wide deep cleaning, spokeswoman Lindsay Gizdich said.

The store closed on April 21 after seven employees tested positive for COVID-19.

All employees currently working have been tested for the virus, and are cleared to work, Gizdich said.

“…we are working closely with the Santa Cruz County Public Health Department to follow recommended guidance for reopening,” she stated in an email. “While health authorities did not require us to close the store, we chose to do so to work with local healthcare providers to test all staff, and support the health and well-being of our community.”

The store has asked staff who had close contact with the diagnosed employees to stay home for 14 days from the last possible exposure, and to monitor themselves for symptoms.
