SANTA CRUZ—A UC Santa Cruz student who lives off-campus has tested positive for COVID-19 and is in self-isolation, UCSC Chancellor Cynthia Larive announced Friday.

“The student was last on campus March 16 and is doing well,” Larive said.

The university is coordinating with local public health officials and following the guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the California Department of Public Health.

Officials are also investigating whether there are members of the campus community who may have had exposure to the individual.

“The health and well-being of our campus community is our top priority,” Larive said. “The campus is ensuring that this student is getting the care and support that they need.”
