Jeal Leal scored twice for the Watsonville High boys’ soccer team as they edged St. Ignatius College Prep, 3-2, in the Central Coast Section Open Division quarterfinals on Saturday.
The No. 2 seed Wildcatz, who won the PCAL Gabilan division championship, needed overtime to beat the No. 7 Wildcats.
Julian Garcia added a goal for Watsonville (16-3-2), which will host rival Bellarmine College Prep (15-2-4) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
It will be a rematch of last year’s Open Division Semifinal. The Bells beat the ‘Catz 3-0 en route to the CCS Open title.
Watsonville also lost 1-0 to rival Bellarmine in the preseason.
The Bells beat No. 6 Leland, 3-0, in their playoff opener.
Menlo 4, Pajaro Valley 0: The No. 8-seeded Grizzlies (12-6-3), runner-up in the PCAL Mission, were shut out by the top-seeded Knights (15-2-4) in the CCS D-III quarterfinals.
Ilan Listgarten scored the game’s first goal in the 11th minute. Christian Corcoran, Jackson Aldrich and Aaron Morgan also scored for Menlo School.
Girls soccer
Gunn 2, Aptos 1: The No. 2-seeded Mariners were upset by the No. 7-seeded Titans in their CCS D-I quarterfinal at Cabrillo College on Saturday.
Brynn Mitchell scored an unassisted goal in the 50th minute for Aptos (14-3-2), which won the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League regular-season and tournament titles this season.
No. 7 Sacred Heart Cathedral 2, at No. 2 Monte Vista Christian 1: The Mustangs (12-4-4), runner-up in the PCAL Mission, were upset in their CCS D-III quarterfinal.
Salinas 2, Pajaro Valley 0: The No. 6-seeded Grizzlies (13-4-1), champions of the PCAL Santa Lucia, were shut out in their CCS D-IV quarterfinal loss.
Elizabeth Pozas and Camryn Garcia scored for the Cowboys (11-5-4), runner-up in the PCAL Gabilan. Goalie Laryssa Venegas recorded five saves.
