Farms across the Pajaro Valley will open to the public for two days of family-friendly activities Oct. 12-13.
The annual Open Farm Tours is a collaboration with local organization Agri-Culture. From 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both days, 15 farms from Corralitos to Royal Oaks will offer guests a chance to learn more about each farm through self-guided tours, educational activities and more.
Each farm’s events are different; everything from apple juicing and olive curing, to a variety of U-Picks will be offered.
The “hub” of Open Farm Tours is Alladin Nursery and Gift Shop. Stop by the nursery, 2905 Freedom Blvd. for a lunch made from locally sourced food and desserts, artisanal beverages, beer and wine; and live music and a raffle.
Each farm on the list uses sustainable agriculture practices. Open Farm Tours aims to promote this and to get the community involved in growing healthy food.
The participating farms are: Prevedelli Farm, Blue Heron Farm, Live Earth Farm, Terra Sole Nursery, New Natives Nursery, Blossoms Biodynamic Farm, Thomas Farm, Dos Aguilas Olive Grove, Nelson Family Farm, Luz Del Valle Farm, Monkey Flower Ranch, Fruitilicious Farm & Sol Seeker Farm.
All farms are located within a 10-mile radius.
