SANTA CRUZ — Four people were injured — one of them seriously — when an unlicensed teen driver lost control and crashed after striking three other vehicles Friday morning, Santa Cruz Police spokeswoman Joyce Blaschke said.

The crash happened at La Fonda and Soquel avenues at 11 a.m.

According to Blaschke, the four occupants packed into the two-seat Nissan 350Z Roadster are female Harbor High School students, ages 17, 16 and 15.

The passenger in the back section suffered the worst injuries and was flown by air ambulance to a Bay Area trauma center, Blaschke said.

The other three were transported to the hospital with various injuries.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash. La Fonda remained closed until 3 p.m.

Anyone with information is asked to call Santa Cruz Police Department Investigations Division at 420-5820, the anonymous tip line at 420-5995 or through the department’s mobile app.
