WATSONVILLE — The healthcare industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in the country, so much so that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates nearly four million new jobs by 2026.
This is primarily driven by an aging population, which is in need of such health care services.
The demand is there. But, filling those new positions will be the challenge.
To meet this need, Monsbey College of Watsonville is preparing students for these high-paying jobs that are available now and into the future.
Founded in 2008, Monsbey College specializes in affordable training in healthcare careers, such as Certified Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide, Pharmacy Technician, Clinical Medical Assistant, EKG Technician, NCLEX Exam preparation and CPR and First Aid.
Monsbey is also a Licensed Training Provider for American Red Cross programs, and is also affiliated with agencies such as the California Department of Public Health and the National Healthcareer Association, offering a number of different certification preparations.
CEO Koshy Skaria estimated hundreds of students have successfully completed training programs at Monsbey College, and nearly all have found careers at Watsonville Community Hospital, skilled nursing facilities, pharmacies and many other places.
He describes Monsbey College as offering the “fastest, most affordable and high quality training to jobs in the area.”
“In this place, you need to be serious, and you need to study well,” he said.
Classes run year round, with sizes staying between 10 to 15 students at a time. These classes are taught by a staff of six teachers, all of whom have more than 25 years of experience, according to Skaria.
Monsbey also expects to debut a licensed vocational nursing program by mid-2020, Skaria said, and will further add to its rank of teachers.
Even though it has successfully prepared students for healthcare careers for the last 10 years, Skaria said many people still are not aware of the services Monsbey College provides.
“We need more students,” he said. “There are a lot of opportunities in the industry.”
