8 injured in 3-vehicle crash

WATSONVILLE—Eight people were injured in a three-vehicle collision near the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds Sunday afternoon.

California Highway Patrol officer Alyssa Gutierrez said that around 4:15pm the driver of a 2021 Porsche Cayenne was traveling eastbound on Highway 152 near Holohan Road. For unknown reasons, he swerved into westbound traffic and collided with a 2006 Chevy Silverado. The Chevy pickup then struck a 2016 Mazda CX5, Gutierrez said.

“The incident called for three ambulances to deal with eight patients,” Gutierrez said. “Six were taken to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas and two were taken to Watsonville Community Hospital. It appears that all of the injuries were moderate.”

Westbound traffic was clogged for well over an hour to clear the scene.

No arrests have been made in the incident, which is still under investigation.
